In the Sahara Desert located on the Adrar Plateau you will find the ancient city of Chinquetti. Constructed in the 13th century to serve the caravans crossing the Sahara, it illustrates a traditional way of life centered on the nomadic culture of the people of the western Sahara. Its population is dwindling and the Sahara is slowly and sadly taking it back but when you wander through the old part of town it’s still easy to be enchanted by its mystic.
